Herb Chamomile Seeds
Chamomile is a pretty little annual herb with the aroma of apples. It is part of the aster family and has flowers with daisy like white petals and an 'eggy yellow' centre and it grows to a height of between 10-40cm.
This variety of Chamomile is the wild or German variety (Matricia recutita) - the flowers make a relaxing herb tea that is said to help aid digestion and insomnia. It is thought to help prevent 'damping off' when a solution of its leaves & flowers is misted over seedlings.
Chamomile is known as 'the physicians plant' as it is said revive poorly plants that it is planted next too. Chamomile is also found in hair products that lighten hair.
This is not suitable for lawns. The flowers should be picked just as they fully open and can be used fresh or dried.

The seeds are very fine so it is best to sow undercover first in early spring. Sow seeds on the surface of compost and firm down but do not cover with soil as light aids germination. Keep at 15-20C and germination takes 10-14 days. Plant out when seedlings large enough & space 25-30cm between plants.
