Chilli Pepper Habanero Chocolate Seeds

This little chilli is one of the hottest in the world at around 425,000 Scoville units and it's lantern-shaped chillies matures from green to chocolate brown.

Habanero Chocolate is Native to Central America and grown as a vegetable, Capsicum chinense is a tropical herb that is 70-80 cm tall. C. chinense varieties are well known for their unique flavours and many have exceptional heat. The hottest peppers in the world are members of this species, with Scoville Heat Unit scores of over 2 million. The leaves are compound with each leaf composed of 3 leaflets. The flowers found in the axils of leaves. They are white and occur singly or in clusters of two. The fruit is used as a flavouring and spice. It has tonic and antiseptic properties. It increases perspiration, reduces pain sensitivity, and stimulates the circulatory and digestive systems. 

The Habanero Chocolate chilli pods measure 3.5cm - 6cm long, 2.5cm - 5cm wide and have thin waxy skin. The plant grows to 80cm tall but does take longer than others to mature, so best to plant early. It will however continue to fruit later (until December in our polytunnel this year).

This is a real chilli experts chilli with a rich fruity/smoky flavour. In Spanish, it means 'the one from Havana' and although it was traded from there it originated from Yucatan in Mexico and is also known as Congo Black.
